    SW Florida Sweet Orange Rootstock Planting – Description

    This trial planted in a southwest Florida flatwoods site consists of 36 sweet orange/rootstock combinations (approximately 2800 trees planted in 2014). The scions are: ‘Valencia’ B9-65, OLL-8 and OLL-20 sweet oranges on 7 new sour orange-like hybrid rootstock candidates along with UFR-4, UFR-15, UFR-17 and White 1. The trial is not replicated, rather, combinations are planted in solid blocks. The trial was heavily impacted by Irma, with some flooding. The goal is to identify successful scion/rootstock combinations for southwest Florida flatwoods.
